Kickstarter

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

We {as in Jesse} has been obsessed with the concept of kickstarter. A place for people to pitch their ideas, set a monetary amount they're hoping to raise, and {im}patiently watch for 30 days to see if enough people "back" them. Even if you are $1 short when it ends you won't get a single cent from your backers.

Jesse has backed several successful projects and really enjoyed the whole process of being a part of the Kickstarter community.

Anyway, we've been thinking of projects we could submit and decided our first try would be something having to do with photography and traveling -- two things we LOVE.

Here's the video...

Pledge if you'd like, or "like" the Facebook link on the kickstarter page to spread the word to as many people as possible!!

The Gear: Footwear

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Jesse here.

Last month I posted about one of the first gear items I just wouldn't leave at home. Today I wanted to post about our footwear  of choice for a trip to a monsoon-laden country:

Columbia Drainmaker

  • Best of all? They are waterproof and drain the water out of the holes in the side of the soles.
  • They are quick dry, so you're not putting wet shoes back on.
  • They are mega comfortable, so they can be worn around all day on your trip, and you're automatically ready when it starts raining!
  • They have a super sticky grip sole that still grips under water.
  • Bonus: tons of cool or less-eye-catching colors for everyone.

You can find them here for $70.00. (Or head to the Park City Columbia outlet, they're on sale!)

BYU Grad

Monday, April 23, 2012

April 21st 2012 was something we talked about many times but it felt so far away! I can't believe we made it through this last month year. Jesse has been taking a full load of classes straight for the last year and a half {not to mention work}. We are really looking forward to knowing what it's like to be married and see each other occasionally. I can't say it enough how grateful I am for the hard worker that Jesse is. He's an amazing man and husband!

And though he may hit the books again, it won't be for a while.
Until then, we're going to party like it's 1999!

Congrats Grad.

{Elder Oaks was the guest speaker}

{we actually found him!}

{Guru's -- our first date}

{Peter Huntsman was the guest speaker}

{The Crabtree -- a home away from home for engineers}

{an amazing professor and man -- also the supervisor on Jesse's study abroad in Singapore}

 {that may or may not be the robe I wore last year...and my tassel! Jesse thought it'd be better to spend the money elsewhere. I agreed. It's not worth it plus mine fit good enough, right?!}

Finally Settled In.

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Finally things are feeling a little more settled around here. We've been able to resume eating semi-healthy meals and sleeping on a real mattress with pillows and everything!

We visited our new ward for the first time a couple weeks ago. It'll definitely be an adjustment going from a student married ward to a family ward. The noise level was raised a good 8 notches! Everyone was friendly but was quick to warn us that the ward will probably be splitting soon since they're nearly up to 700 members! Maybe this means we can stay under the calling radar for a little while...

We haven't met our neighbors yet but I'm pleased to have seen a cute dog or cat face staring at me out several of their windows. Pretty sure I'm going to shamelessly post "Dog Sitter" signs around the complex like I did when I was 10.

I've been able to organize to my hearts content and start scheming up plans for how I'd like to decorate this new space!

We are excited to have Jesse's family up for the weekend and spend time celebrating such a major accomplishment in Jesse's life!
